Dorie Greer: DJ Gold “D”

Dorie Greer, the club scene’s DJ Gold “D” grew up in music. Her grandmother had a great influence on her music knowledge by playing many great musicians on her phonograph player from Carlos Santana to the Jazz Crusaders. At age ten Dorie was working in her uncle’s record store, Honey’s Records on 47th & Indiana on Chicago’s southside
and the family shared collections of records like Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Deodado, Phyllis Hyman, Roy Ayers, George Duke, & more. In 1987 she began a series of exclusive House parties, and 1989 worked with Fred Riley as an event facilitator and manager at the famous underground club Reactor, where the resident DJ’s were Ron Trent and DJ Rush. She later worked with Trent and Anthony Nicolson at the Urban Sound Gallery.

In 1994, Dorie did her first DJ gig and Gold “D” was born. She is in demand for fashion shows, weddings, private parties, lounges and clubs which included: University of Illinois, Phyllis’s Musical Inn, Red Dog, Mercedes, Bop Shop, Betty’s Blue Star, The Note, and Darkroom.
